MAX13085EESA+T - Maxim Integrated Function Overview

The MAX13085EESA+T is a 5V, ±15KV ESD-protected, fail-safe, hot-swap, RS485/RS422 transceiver in 8 pin NSOIC package. The transceiver features one driver and one receiver, it includes fail-safe circuitry, gives a logic-high receiver output when receiver inputs are open or shorted. The receiver outputs logic-high if all transmitters on a terminated bus are disabled (high impedance). It includes a hot-swap capability to eliminate false transitions on the bus during power-up or hot insertion. It is ideal for half-duplex communications and it draws 1.2mA of supply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with the drivers disabled. It is used in utility meters, telecom, instrumentation and profibus.
Supply voltage range is 4.5V to 5.5V
Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
True fail-safe receiver while maintaining EIA/TIA-485 compatibility
Low current shutdown mode
Enhanced slew-rate limiting facilitates error- free data transmission
Allow up to 256 transceivers on the bus
