MAX8731AETI+ - Maxim Integrated Function Overview

The MAX8731AETI+ is an SMBus level-2 battery charger with remote sense in 28 pin TQFN package. It uses a minimal command set to easily program the charge voltage, charge current and adapter current limit. The device charges one to four Li+ series cells and delivers up to 8A charge current. It drives n-channel MOSFETs for improved efficiency and reduced cost. Low-offset current-sense amplifiers provide high accuracy with 10mR sense resistors. The charger employs dual remote sense which reduces charge time by measuring the feedback voltage directly at the batter and improves accuracy of initial transition in constant-voltage mode.
0.5% battery voltage accuracy
3% input current-limit accuracy, 3% charge-current accuracy
Cycle by cycle current limit
Dual remote-sense inputs
Monitor outputs for adapter current and AC adapter detection
11bit battery voltage setting
6bit charge current/input current setting
Charges Li+, NiMH and NiCd battery chemistries
Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
