The DRV8839EVM is a complete solution for evaluating the DRV8839 low voltage brushed DC motor driver. The device has two independent ½ H bridge drivers and can drive one DC motor or one winding of a stepper motor, as well as other devices like solenoids. The output stages use N channel power MOSFET"s configured as ½ H bridges. An internal charge pump generates needed gate drive voltages. The DRV8839EVM includes a MSP430 microcontroller that is preprogrammed to take input from two dedicated analog potentiometers, for PWM speed control of two motors. Two enable jumpers provide the ability to HIZ the motor outputs. Power can be provided with the included micro USB cable for 5V or externally provided up to 11V through the power header. To expand beyond the included firmware capability, the MSP430 can easily be reprogrammed via an external MSP430 USB stick development tool.
