The LM2594M-5.0 is a fixed output SIMPLE SWITCHER step down regulator in 8 pin SOIC package. This regulator is a monolithic integrated circuit that provides all active functions for a step down (buck) switching regulator. Requiring minimum number of external components, this regulator is simple to use and features internal frequency compensation, fixed frequency oscillator and improved line and load regulation specifications. A standard series of inductors (both through hole and surface mount types) are optimized for use with LM2594 step down regulator. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switch mode power supplies. Other features include an ensured ±4% tolerance on output voltage under all conditions of input voltage and output load conditions and ±15% on oscillator frequency. Self protection features include a two stage frequency reducing current limit for output switch and over temperature shut down for complete protection under fault conditions.
