The MAX703ESA+ is a low cost microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuit with battery backup power switching in 8 pin NSOIC package. This supervisory circuit reduces the complexity and number of components required for power supply monitoring and battery control functions in µP systems. The device significantly improves system reliability and accuracy compared to that obtained with separate ICs or discrete components. The MAX703 provides active-low reset during power-up, power-down and brownout conditions. It also provides battery backup switching for CMOS RAM, CMOS µPs or other low power logic circuitry. A 1.25V threshold detector is provided for power fail warning, low battery detection or for monitoring a power supply other than +5V. The MAX703 is typically used in computers, controllers, intelligent instruments and critical µP power monitoring applications.
