The SN65HVD234D is a CAN (Controller Area Network) transceiver with ultra low current sleep mode in 8 pin SOIC package. This CAN transceiver is used in applications employing CAN serial communication physical layer in accordance with the ISO 11898-2 standard. The SN65HVD234D provides transmit and receive capability between differential CAN bus and CAN controller with signalling rates up to 1Mbps. The SN65HVD234D features cross wire protection, overvoltage protection up to ±36V, loss of ground protection, overtemperature (thermal shutdown) protection and common mode transient protection of ±100V. The device operates over a wide -7V to 12V common mode range. The SN65HVD234D enters a low current standby mode during which the driver is switched off and receiver remains active if a high logic level is applied to the RS pin. This device enters an ultra low current sleep mode in which both driver and receiver circuits are deactivated if a low logic level is applied to EN pin (pin 5).
● Single 3.3V supply voltage
● Bus pins fault protection exceeds ±36V
● Bus pin ESD protection exceeds ±16KV HBM
● GIFT/ICT compliant
● High input impedance allows for 120 nodes
● Adjustable driver transition times for improved emissions performance
● Unpowered node does not disturb bus
● Low current standby mode of typically 200µA
● Operating temperature range -40°C to 125°C
● LVTTL I/Os are 5V tolerant
●This device has limited built-in ESD protection. The leads should be shorted together or device placed in conductive foam during storage or handling to prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates.
