The SSM2220PZ from Analog Devices is a through hole, audio dual matched PNP transistor in PDIP package. This device features low noise, high bandwidth and low offset voltage which makes transistor an ideal choice for low noise preamplification. It offers excellent matching of the current gain which helps to reduce the high order amplifier harmonic distortion. Internal protection diodes are used to clamp reverse base to emitter junction potential to ensure the long term stability of the matching parameters. This prevents base to emitter breakdown condition which can result in degradation of gain and matching performance due to excessive breakdown current.
