PIC16F886-I/SS - Microchip Function Overview

The PIC16F886-I/SS is a 8-bit CMOS Flash-based Microcontroller. The PIC16F886 features 256 bytes of EEPROM data memory, self programming, an ICD, 2 comparators, 11 channels of 10-bit Analogue-to-digital (A/D) converter, 1 capture/compare/PWM and 1 Enhanced capture/compare/PWM functions, a synchronous serial port that can be configured as either 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI™) or the 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C™) bus and an Enhanced Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (EUSART). The PIC16F886 devices have two timers that offer necessary delays on power-up. One is the Oscillator Start-up Timer (OST), intended to keep the chip in reset until the crystal oscillator is stable. The other is the Power-up Timer (PWRT), which provides a fixed delay of 64ms (nominal) on power-up only, designed to keep the part in reset while the power supply stabilizes.
