The DS3232MZ+ is a low cost, extremely accurate I2C real time clock (RTC) with 236bytes of battery backed SRAM in 8 pin NSOIC package. The device incorporates battery input and maintains accurate timekeeping when mains power to device is interrupted. The integration of MEMS system resonator enhances long term accuracy of device and reduces piece part count in a manufacturing line. The RTC maintains complete clock calendar functionality including seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month and year with leap year compensation up to year 2100. The date at the end of month is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days including corrections for leap year. Address and data are transferred serially through an I2C bidirectional bus. A precision temperature compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit monitors status of VCC to detect power failures and provide reset output to automatically switch to backup supply when necessary.
